Lucy Bronze x McDonald’s Fun Football Film
This McDonald’s Fun Football film features England international Lucy Bronze leading a short series of football skills, drills and fitness exercises. Created for families during half term, the video encouraged young players to stay active and practise at home.
I worked as Lighting Cameraman and Director of Photography, shaping the visual approach and capturing Lucy’s demonstrations clearly. The production needed to feel energetic, accessible and easy for children and parents to follow.
Lighting a Football Skills Session
The lighting had to keep Lucy and the football demonstrations clear while retaining a bright, natural tone. Therefore, I balanced the key light and surrounding exposure so the movements, ball work and facial expressions remained easy to read throughout the session.
At the same time, the setup needed to leave enough room for Lucy to perform each drill safely and naturally. Careful positioning allowed the cameras to cover both the instruction and the physical action without interrupting the flow of the presentation.
My experience providing lighting cameraman and DOP services helped the production combine polished branded imagery with the practical demands of an instructional sports film.
Two-Camera Sony FS7 Production
We filmed the session using two Sony FS7 cameras with Canon L-series lenses. This two-camera approach captured a strong principal angle alongside alternative framing for demonstrations, reactions and closer details of the football skills.
As a result, the edit could move smoothly between Lucy’s explanations and the action without repeatedly stopping the session. The Sony FS7 also provided the reliable recording, exposure tools and professional handling required for an efficient branded-content shoot.
The compact setup reflects my wider camera operator and filming services for sports campaigns, commercial productions and social content across the UK.
Branded Content for Families and Young Players
The finished film translated McDonald’s Fun Football into an accessible online format. Rather than simply presenting a campaign message, it gave families practical exercises they could follow and repeat during the school holiday.
Lucy’s direct-to-camera delivery provided a clear structure, while the varied coverage kept the film engaging. Consequently, the content could support the wider campaign while remaining useful as a standalone football and fitness resource.
