Dacia Britain Off-Road

Dacia Britain Off-Road was a nine-part social-first adventure series for Dacia UK, fronted by explorer George Bullard. The journey travelled from Holy Island across the North East and Cumbria to the Solway Firth.

I worked as Director and DOP, while Oscar Akerman supported the production as camera operator. Together, we captured the route, off-road driving and the surrounding British landscapes.

The campaign used a tight episodic format. Each film needed to tell its own short story while contributing to the wider journey. Therefore, we planned the coverage for both individual social edits and the longer hero film.

Directing a Social-First Adventure Series

We shot the campaign to follow the route, working efficiently across changing locations and conditions. My role involved directing the action, developing the visual approach and making quick decisions that kept the journey natural.

We designed the films for Instagram, YouTube and paid social. The nine vertical episodes ran for 30–60 seconds, while a longer 16:9 hero edit brought the complete adventure together.

Drawing on my experience as both a UK film director and Director of Photography helped maintain a consistent creative and visual direction throughout the campaign.

Camera and Drone Coverage

We filmed the principal coverage on the Sony FX9 and FX3. A GoPro HERO12 provided dynamic point-of-view footage, while the DJI Mini 4 Pro captured aerial views of the route and surrounding landscapes.

Handheld camera work allowed us to stay close to the action. Meanwhile, the combination of ground-based, action-camera and drone filming gave the edit a varied sense of movement, scale and location.

Production and Deliverables

Tomorrow’s Creative delivered the production and post-production package, including crew, camera equipment, filming, drone coverage and editing.

The final deliverables included nine vertical social films, a landscape hero edit, cover options and a supporting selects library. You can view a selection from the completed campaign below.
