Topshop Air Cushion – Director of Photography

The Topshop Air Cushion campaign was created to showcase the brand’s beauty range through clean, contemporary imagery. I worked as Director of Photography on the commercial, which was directed by Katie Freestone and produced by Arcadia Group.

The campaign was filmed in UHD using the ARRI AMIRA. The camera provided the colour reproduction, dynamic range and flexibility required for a polished fashion and beauty production.

Beauty Commercial Cinematography

Beauty cinematography requires careful control of lighting, skin tone, texture and colour. Therefore, the visual approach needed to feel flattering without making the images appear artificial or overly processed.

Soft, controlled lighting created an even finish across the models’ faces. At the same time, subtle contrast retained shape and definition. Close-up framing showed the product and its application clearly, while wider portraits brought energy and personality to the campaign.

The composition, camera movement and lighting were all designed to support Topshop’s established fashion-led identity.

A Polished Fashion and Beauty Campaign

Throughout the production, I worked closely with the director and wider creative team. Together, we maintained a consistent visual language across the different models, product shots and performance-led setups.

The cinematography also needed to support the pace of the edit. As a result, each setup provided a range of detailed close-ups, medium portraits and wider compositions. This gave the edit flexibility while keeping the product and Topshop branding central to the film.

The finished campaign combines fashion, beauty and product cinematography within a concise commercial format. It demonstrates the considered lighting, camera work and creative collaboration I bring to commercial productions.
