In early 2022, I worked on one of my most challeng

In early 2022, I worked on one of my most challenging projects as a Shooting PD — Ambulance for BBC One. Filming with NEAS, the North East Ambulance Service, made it especially important to me. This was the region I grew up in, and over 12 weeks I was out with different ambulance crews, mirroring their shift patterns and experiencing life alongside them as paramedics. The 7pm–7am night shifts were particularly tough, and I found myself filming in situations I never imagined I’d be part of. I met patients with powerful and often harrowing stories, and worked with some incredible NEAS staff who looked after me throughout — from Carlin How to Alnwick and across the North East.
